Thank you for choosing Trezor, a leading hardware wallet for secure cryptocurrency storage. At Trezor.io/start, we’ll guide you through setting up your device and introduce you to essential features and security practices. Setting up your Trezor wallet is simple, and within minutes, you’ll be ready to manage and protect your digital assets with confidence.
1. Set Up Your Device
Visit Trezor.io/start: This is the official start page with step-by-step setup instructions.
Choose and Connect Your Device: Trezor offers two models—Trezor Model One and Trezor Model T. Use the provided USB cable to connect your device to your computer.
2. Download Trezor Suite
Trezor Suite is the official software for securely managing your Trezor wallet. Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, it provides easy access to your portfolio, account overview, and transaction history.
Install and Open: Download Trezor Suite from Trezor.io/start, install it, and follow the prompts on your computer.
3. Install Firmware
Upon your first connection, your Trezor device may require firmware installation. The latest firmware ensures your Trezor has the latest security updates.
Simply follow the instructions to install the firmware. You may be asked to disconnect and reconnect the device after installation.
4. Create a New Wallet
Select ‘Create a New Wallet’: For new users, Trezor generates a 12, 18, or 24-word recovery seed. This seed is your backup for wallet recovery in case your device is lost or damaged.
Important: Write down your recovery seed and store it safely. This is a critical part of wallet security.
5. Secure Your Wallet with a PIN
Choose a PIN: This protects your wallet if your device is lost or stolen. Pick a unique, memorable PIN, as it will be required each time you access your Trezor.
6. Optional: Add a Passphrase
For advanced users, Trezor offers an optional passphrase feature for added security. This is an additional layer on top of your recovery seed, recommended for those who prioritize extra security.
With your wallet set up, you can start managing your assets through Trezor Suite:
Trezor supports a wide variety of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and more. You can add accounts for each cryptocurrency you wish to store.
Sending and receiving cryptocurrencies is simple with Trezor Suite. Each transaction is secured, and you will verify details on your Trezor display for added protection.
To ensure your Trezor remains safe, keep these tips in mind:
Safeguard Your Recovery Seed: Store your recovery seed offline, ideally in multiple secure locations. Never share it online or with anyone.
Keep Firmware Updated: Regular updates to your Trezor firmware are essential for maintaining security. Trezor Suite will prompt you if a new update is available.
Beware of Phishing Attempts: Only use Trezor’s official websites and Trezor Suite. Be cautious of emails or websites that request your recovery seed or private information.
